Sad News - Passing of Retired PS Bernie Scrivens

It is with sadness that branch has been informed of the passing away of retired PS 517 Bernard Clive Scrivens aged 71yrs,that occurred at the Heath Hospital, Cardiff, on Monday, 1st April, 2019. He had been ill for for sometime. Bernie joined Gwent Police in 1969, and after serving at several stations in the county, retired in 2001, with 32 years service. Bernie was a former rugby player with Pontypool RFC, and played an integral part with Gwent Police RFC. His funeral will take place on Tuesday 16th April, 2019 at 10-30am at Merchants Hill, Baptist Church, Pontnewenydd Pontypool, then to Gwent Crematorium, Cwmbran. Family flowers only. Donations in lieu can be made to Ward B4 Haemotology Dept, Heath Hospital, Cardiff, c/o the funeral director, Brian Watkins, Varteg Road, Varteg, NP 47 PY. Afterwards all are welcome to join the family ay Pontypool Golf Club, Lasgarn Road, Trevethin, Pontypool,NP 4 87R, to celebrate Bernie’s life. Bernie is survived by two children, daughter Hannah Jones son Johnathon and seven grand children. The family have requested if six of Bernie’s former work colleagues could be bearers at his funeral.
